Tag | Films, Films, Films Tag

Welcome one, welcome all, today on Tag Thursday I bring you a film-related tag for once. I saw it recently on Liz’s blog and have been meaning to do it ever since so here goes nothing…

What is your all-time favourite film?

I have too many – Thor, The Avengers, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Shaun of the Dead, The Proposal, Legally Blonde, Leap Year, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Life of Brian, Four Lions, Stardust… there are many.

What is your favourite scene from that film?

From all of the above? Haha, only kidding, I wouldn’t put anyone through reading that much. For the sake of not being too repetitive in this post, I’ll pick Avengers for the purposes of this question and say I love the scene in Stuttgart where Loki terrorises some innocent party goers, Captain America tries to step in, and then Iron Man appears to the tune of ‘Shoot to Kill’ and calls him “reindeer games”. One of the best entrances ever.

Who is your favourite actor and actress?

Favourite actor is (this is no surprise to anyone) Tom Hiddleston. I also seem to enjoy films with Colin Firth or James McAvoy. As for favourite actress, I have a few I enjoy watching, including Anne Hathaway, Emma Watson, Keira Knightley. I think that’s enough for now, I won’t dig out the full list.

What was the first film you saw in the cinema?

I have vivid memories of going to see the first couple of Harry Potter films on a primary school trip, so it would be Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Favourite director?

I watch films but I am by no means a film connoisseur so I find this question trickier than it should be. My favourite director from the various who have taken on the Harry Potter films has been Alfonso Cuáron. I quite enjoy Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Favourite guilty pleasure film?

Leap Year, definitely Leap Year. It is so gloriously predictable and shit but I adore it, it never fails to make me smile.

What is a film you hate that everyone loves?

Titanic. Bloody Titanic. If I could remove one film from existence I’m pretty sure it would be this one. See also: Romeo + Juliet – you know the one I mean. The thing in common? 90s-era Leo Di Caprio – I really don’t get the fuss/appeal, sorry!

What is a film you love that everyone hates?

Thor, I mean it’s mainly because of Loki but I will defend this film to anyone who says it’s crap. Unfortunately, quite a lot of people think it’s the weakest film in the MCU. However, it’s the first MCU film I saw, it features one of my favourite actors, I think the comedy is genuinely spot-on, it’s Shakespeare-y in tone (thanks, Ken Branagh), and it features a lot of stunning shots of pretty, pretty space and stars – ooo!

Which actor/actress do you have a crush on?

See ‘who is your favourite actor’ question! By which I mean, obviously, Tom Hiddleston. Any of my friends will attest to the fact that whenever I have compiled my Top Ten crushes, he has always had the number one spot and the number two has always been way, way lower. It’s safe to say he strides heads and shoulders above anyone else I have ever found appealing in any way.

What is your favourite animated film?

My favourite Disney film from childhood was always Pocahontas so I think I’m going to have to say that. Nowadays I’m also very partial to a bit of Tangled.

Who is your favourite film villain?

I probably can’t answer Tom Hiddleston for another question can I? (cough Loki cough) Ok, ok, the one that immediately sprung to mind was Hans Gruber from Die Hard. I mean, come on, it’s Alan freaking Rickman. Although I’m not sure Hans would even consider himself a villain – the best ones never do!

One remake you wish had never been made.

I really struggle with this question to be honest, again because I’m not exactly a film connoisseur. Can I say instead that, as much as I adored Pirates of the Caribbean, they need to just stop already with that franchise? It’s getting less fun with every film they make, to be honest.

Favourite film genre?

“Rom com” to be honest – you well and truly know what you’re getting. I’m also very partial to action/adventure when it has a slight fantasy bent. Comedy if it’s “British” and sarcastic as hell.

Ever walked out of a film?

Nope, not in the cinema. There are very few films that I’ve outright hated enough to even consider doing that. I have walked out of the room when a friend’s parents were watching Skeleton Key in the living room when I was sleeping over at their house though; I’m not a huge fan of horror films and it was creeping me out!

Favourite sidekick?

As much as he becomes a bit of a jealous dick (understandably though, I think!): Ron Weasley. I hate that he’s identified as a sidekick (aka: “Harry Potter’s stupid friend” as he bitterly calls himself in Goblet of Fire!) but it’s accurate.

That was The ‘Films Films Films’ tag, I hope you enjoyed seeing my answers. Perhaps you would consider doing the tag yourself?
If so – consider yourself tagged by me!
